Tennessee defeats Lipscomb in the season opener.
In each of the first two games, the Lady Vols held commanding 10-5 leads before putting each game away with substantial runs: 13-0 in the first game and 9-0 in the second. Royals don't have enough against Yankees, Giambi:
Both of Giambi's homers came against Zack Greinke (3-16), who lost for the fifth straight time. His 16 losses are the most for any pitcher in the majors.

"Sometimes, I think I do decent, but it will just find a way to happen," Greinke said. "Even if I pitch about as I good as I have pitched, they'll find a way, some way to score runs and win the game when I'm pitching.

"Today I didn't really give us a chance. They've got some great hitters and early on they were hitting my pitches pretty much, but later in the game I was messing up."

Royals need to go 21-13 to avoid 100 losses.

"There was a train conductor standing with Archie on the platform saying he had got on at Inverurie but didn't have a ticket," Hope said.

Red hair, red skin?
Duke University researchers on Sunday reported the first direct evidence that differences in melanin, the skin pigment that darkens with sun exposure to provide either a tan or freckles, may be a culprit. It turns out that redheads' melanin is more vulnerable to a type of DNA-damaging stress from the sun's ultraviolet rays.

Coffee is the top source for antioxidants in the American diet:
"Americans get more of their antioxidants from coffee than any other dietary source. Nothing else comes close," Vinson said in a statement.

Presenting his findings to a meeting of the American Chemical Society in Washington, Vinson said this did not mean that coffee was necessarily the best source of antioxidants.

Here, kitty, kitty!
Urban wildlife biologists are fielding more calls than usual this summer about bobcats, say Debra Burns and Wendy Sangster, who handle critter inquiries for the Missouri Department of Conservation. Some people want to report them, while others are worried about safety.

But danger is minimal.

The Iraqi parliament receives the draft constitution:
The final draft was read to the parliament, but the assembly did not vote on the constitution, and it is a matter of dispute whether the Transitional Administrative Law - the interim constitution that governs the process - requires it to do so. The 15 Sunni Arabs who sat on the drafting committee said they rejected the document, despite several last-minute changes aimed at winning their support.
