From the book Power in the People by Felix Morley, as linked by Gary Galles at the Ludwig von Mises Institute:
The founders certainly believed, and frequently asserted, that the primary purpose of government is to secure private property.

"Trigger" is newspeak for "We will take your money later, after promising cross-our-hearts that we won't take your money right now."

Those of you of a certain age and/or a Wikipedia addiction will also recall that Trigger was a horse.

So we can therefore conclude that the Democrats want you to believe that they are a horse of a different color. Or something like that.

Sometimes Thoughts of the Day can just get a bit out of control.

From the book Power in the People by Felix Morley, as linked by Gary Galles at the Ludwig von Mises Institute:
A political system designed to encourage people to govern themselves is increasingly distorted in order to subject them to remote administrative dictation.

The origins of today's economic problems can largely be found in FDR's New Deal, and the political philosophies which drove those programs.

Where, exactly, in the New Testament does Jesus tell his followers to rob Peter in order to pay Paul?

The very act of hyphenation (i.e. something-American) strips the very humanity from those doing it, and from those to whom it is done.

I am an American. Period.

Hyphenation Is Racism.

Raising a ruckus at a Congresscritter's town hall meeting is getting a bit like students at a college basketball game storming the court after a big win.

Part of it is real emotion, part of it is "Look, Ma, I'm on TV" and part of it is kind of a fad.

Although personally I'm all for every politician being aggressively yelled at whenever he or she pokes his/her face out in public.  That's what they're for.

I'll leave you alone if--and only if--you leave me alone.

Update:  This sh*t is getting serious.  Oath Keepers:

1. We will NOT obey orders to disarm the American people.
2. We will NOT obey orders to conduct warrantless searches of the American people
3. We will NOT obey orders to detain American citizens as “unlawful enemy combatants” or to subject them to military tribunal.
4. We will NOT obey orders to impose martial law or a “state of emergency” on a state.
5. We will NOT obey orders to invade and subjugate any state that asserts its sovereignty.
6. We will NOT obey any order to blockade American cities, thus turning them into giant concentration camps.
7. We will NOT obey any order to force American citizens into any form of detention camps under any pretext.
8. We will NOT obey orders to assist or support the use of any foreign troops on U.S. soil against the American people to “keep the peace” or to “maintain control."
9. We will NOT obey any orders to confiscate the property of the American people, including food and other essential supplies.
10.We will NOT obey any orders which infringe on the right of the people to free speech, to peaceably assemble, and to petition their government for a redress of grievances.

I really, really, really don't want to live through a civil war. I really don't.  But if I have to, I will side with the Constitution and those who defend it.

How many Americans living today have never had the opportunity to watch a man walk on the Moon?
