Thought for the day

Seen on a comment to this blog post[*1] :

“Pray to God, but swim to shore.”

Now, I’m pretty a-religionist (as opposed to agnostic or atheist), but it seems to me that we would be better off if everyone concentrated on the “swim to shore” part and less on the “Pray to God” (or “Beg to the Gov’ment”) or just generally expecting something or somebody else to swoop in and save you from your own bad fortune, incompetence, and stupidity.

And make no mistake, we all–every one of us–take turns with bad luck, with incompetence, with doing stupid things. It’s called “being human.” It hasn’t changed in the 5,000 years of recorded human history, and there is no reason (contra Marx and Obama) that it will change any time soon.

Deal with the world–and with people–as they actually are, not how you wish them to be.

Three things

Neil Armstrong has died.[*1] He has made the final giant leap.

Democrats have to impersonate “Republican” women with Democrat activists in a hate-ad against Republicans.[*2] Isn’t it weird how often Democrats have to impersonate Republicans? It’s almost like you can’t believe anything Democrats say about Republicans, isn’t it?

All nine of the street victims of the New York shooting incident were shot by the police,[*3] not the “perp.” Someone needs to remind them that “gun control” properly refers to where you’re aiming.

Another thought

How many people might have been saved had there been one law-abiding, concealed-carry gun owner who had actually been allowed to carry his (or her) weapon into that the movie audience in Aurora, Colorado when the maniac began his rampage?

But instead, the movie theater was a “gun-free zone.”

Guns kill. Yes. But so do “gun-free zones.”

Obama in his own words

Make up your own mind what he was thinking:

If you were successful, somebody along the line gave you some help. There was a great teacher somewhere in your life. Somebody helped to create this unbelievable American system that we have that allowed you to thrive. Somebody invested in roads and bridges. If you’ve got a business — you didn’t build that. Somebody else made that happen. The Internet didn’t get invented on its own. Government research created the Internet so that all the companies could make money off the Internet.

Another glimpse into what Barack Hussein Obama really believes. He believes in collectivism. Barack Obama is a Marxist. If that offends you, you might want to return to living in this world, where the sky is blue. And this world is the one where Barack Obama is, and always has been, a Marxist.

Go ahead and vote for him if you really want to, but do so in the full knowledge of exactly what you are voting for, and by doing so, understand that you are demonstrating what you yourself believe. Vote for Obama, and be a Marxist.

Or don’t, and don’t.

That’s your choice this year. What’s it going to be?

It really pisses me off that the people who try to make every damn thing in the world a political matter (i.e. under the purview of government) cheerfully go about their busybody business, f**king up the world for the rest of us who just want to get on with things.
